What's on it

The days you cannot get back.

Not a tool for guessing where the market goes. A tool for not getting the date wrong.

SQ and major SQ

The second Friday of each contract month. In March, June, September and December futures and options settle together — the major SQ. The last trading day is the session before, and there is no night session on it.

When that Friday is a market holiday, SQ moves earlier to the previous session — not later.

Last day with rights, ex-rights

How long you have to hold to receive a dividend or a shareholder perk. Settlement is T+2, so the deadline is two business days before the record date.

Shortened from T+3 in July 2019. Older articles saying “three business days” are now wrong.

BOJ meetings and FOMC

Bank of Japan policy meetings, which of them publish the Outlook Report, and FOMC decisions. FOMC sits on the day the decision actually lands in Tokyo time.

Only schedules the institutions have published. Nothing extrapolated from a rule.

Market holidays and year-end

National holidays and substitute holidays, the weekday wedged between two holidays, and the year-end closure. Plus the first and last sessions of the year, and the last order date that still uses this year's NISA allowance.

Holidays are held as data, not computed — Japanese holiday law has moved them more than once.

What it leaves out

No prices.

Dates only. That is why it is small and opens with no network.

priceschartsnewsforumsrankings dates
No network

The schedule ships inside the app. Nothing is fetched to launch it or to show a date. The only network use is in-app purchase, which goes through Apple's StoreKit.

No account

Nothing to register, nothing to sign in to. Your settings and reminder choices stay on the device.

No analytics, no ads

No analytics, no advertising SDK, no third-party libraries of any kind.

Three languages

Japanese, English and Simplified Chinese, switchable inside the app at any time. Light and dark both supported.

Reminders and widgets

It comes to you.

A calendar you have to open is a calendar you forget.

Reminders

A week before, the evening before at 20:00, or the morning of at 8:00 — chosen per category. All times are Tokyo time. Events at the same moment arrive as one notification.

Too many notifications get ignored, so only the deadlines you cannot recover from are on by default.

Widgets

Lock screen (circular and rectangular) and home screen (small and medium). The next date with its countdown, or the week ahead.

Lock screen widgets are rendered monochrome by iOS, so these read from the text alone.

Pricing

One purchase. Not a subscription.

Questions

FAQ

Is this a subscription? Do I need to cancel?

No, it is a one-time purchase. There is no auto-renewal, so there is nothing to cancel. Once bought, use Restore Purchase on any device signed in to the same Apple ID.

How does the trial start, and what happens when it ends?

It starts when you tap “Try free for 7 days” in the app and runs for seven days. When it ends the calendar keeps working. Only the reminders and widgets stop, and nothing is charged.

What if I get a new phone?

On the same Apple ID, Restore Purchase in Settings brings it across. You do not buy it again.

I would like a refund.

Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple. Please apply at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Where do the dates come from?

Holidays, market closures, SQ and rights dates are derived from Japanese law and exchange rules. Things that are not rule-based — BOJ meetings, FOMC — are entered from schedules the institutions have published. Categories not yet entered are labelled as such in the app's settings.

Does it need an internet connection?

The schedule ships inside the app, so it opens in airplane mode. The only time it connects is for an in-app purchase.

What does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Widgets work on both the lock screen and the home screen.

Can I use it to make investment decisions?

This app provides schedule information only. It does not solicit or advise on investments, and it carries no prices or market data. Dates can change, so please check the official announcement before anything that matters.

Dates follow publications by public bodies and the exchange, and are subject to change. This app and this site provide schedule information only and do not solicit or advise on investments. Investment decisions are your own responsibility.
